The City of Kalispell is seeking public input regarding the Kalispell Core & Rail Redevelopment Project “complete street” connecting Center Street with Idaho Street to provide better community access across an area that is currently hampered by the presence of the railroad. Three routes were originally selected - extending 8th Avenue West, extending 6th Avenue West, or extending Woodland Avenue. During the Kalispell Trail and Complete Street Deep Dive week, the Woodland Avenue connection ranked first among the three options closely followed by 8th street. Historically there has been concern that extending Woodland Drive through to Idaho Street would create unwanted impacts along Woodland Drive. Before we spend more resources developing a potential Woodland Ave. Connection option, we wanted to hear from more people in the community, especially those in the Woodland Drive neighborhood. The City will host a public open house Tuesday, July 10, 2018 from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm and 5:00 – 7:00 pm in the Kalispell City Hall Council Chambers at 201 1st Avenue East as another ongoing opportunity to comment regarding the potential for a Woodland Avenue “complete street” connector. If you are unable to attend, you can call the planning office at 758-7940, send us a letter to the City of Kalispell, Planning Office or you can send an email at planning@kalispell.com.
