[ARCHIVED] Preliminary Budget Ready for Your Review

Hand drawing the word Budget

The fiscal year (FY) 2018-2019 city budget approval process is about to begin. Review and discussions are scheduled during extended city council work sessions in May. These preliminary meetings provide the Mayor, Council and the public an opportunity to look into the details of the budget and provide important feedback to city staff. The final budget approval by Council will take place in August after mill values are established by the state.

If you don’t have time to review the entire budget, the City Manager letter provides a clear overview and context for the sections that follow. Accomplishments from 2017 and 2018 set the stage for what’s to come, while the budget at a glance section explains overarching goals the budget supports.

The budget is the upcoming fiscal plan for the City of Kalispell. Citizen feedback is valuable throughout the planning process. The Mayor and City Council value your input. If you would like to hear their thoughts on the budget and then offer your own insights, please plan to attend the budget work sessions May 14, and May 15, at 6 p.m. If additional time is needed, Council will continue the discussion on May 16, at 6 p.m. They also welcome public input via email at your convenience to citycouncil@kalispell.com. Thanks for your time in helping shape the City of Kalispell.
