During the week of February 7th, the annual Special Olympic regional bowling tournaments took place in Bigfork and Whitefish. Special Olympic athletes from all over NW Montana competed. Law enforcement from Kalispell Police Department, Whitefish Police Department, Montana Highway Patrol, and Probation and Parole were on hand to encourage athletes and present them with their well deserved medals. Officers are always humbled by the positive attitudes, sportsmanship, and dedication exhibited by our Special Olympics community.
Since 1982, law enforcement has been a leader is raising funds and awareness for Special Olympics. To learn more about the relationship between Special Olympics and law enforcement or to become a volunteer visit www.letr.org and www.somt.org.
