The Kalispell Police Dept. would like to share with you some of the positive things our Police community does to make a difference that may go unknown or unnoticed. These ‘Silent Services’ were shared by peers or from people like you.
Our first example of a Silent Service we are calling - the Case of the Coin Purse. It is not always easy to track down the owner of property that comes into the station. Recently officers took in a coin purse containing $363.82, and a debit card a customer had left at Murdoch’s. (Shout out to the employees for turning it in with all money intact!) After a simple search did not reveal the owner, several police dept. administrative staff worked together to solve the mystery. When they called the debit card bank, they would not provide a contact number or contact the customer themselves, but did provide an out of state zip code. This led to a driver’s license #, which led to an address, which then led to a phone number through google search. The purse belonged to a 72 year-old tourist who had been visiting a Bigfork friend the week before. She was certainly happy to get her purse back with all contents intact!
