[ARCHIVED] Do Not Rake Leaves into Street

Leaves in street with no symbol over the top

Please do not rake leaves into the street at this time. The city leaf pickup program only happens in the fall, and as weather and resources allow may be extended into the winter. After months of picking up leaf piles from city streets, the street crew and equipment has transitioned to roadway asphalt maintenance.  Please bag leaves and place in the alley or in your roll-out container for pick up. Any leaf piles currently in the street will not be picked up by the city and the street sweepers will need to go around leaf piles so as not to damage equipment.

The city has picked up 366 tons of leaves this past season and swept up 3,265 tons of material. The leaves are placed in a giant composting pile with the previous year’s leaves available to the public for their compost needs. Please call (406) 758-7720 to learn more about this program.
