During the last two weeks, Law Enforcement Officers from the Montana Highway Patrol, Whitefish Police Department, and the Kalispell Police Department attended the annual Glacier Area Special Olympics Winter Games in Whitefish. In an effort to adhere to precautions related to the pandemic, events were held individually to accommodate smaller groups, thus spreading competition over a two week period. Special Olympic athletes competed in snowshoeing, skiing, and snowboarding competitions, and officers were there to encourage, congratulate and award athletes with well deserved medals. Members of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics (LETR) volunteer their time to raise funds and awareness for the Special Olympics movement.
