NEW ANNOUNCEMENT ON 5-4-20
The Kalispell Parks and Recreation lobby re-opened to the public today. Due to space limitations at our front counter/entrance area and to meet social distancing requirements we ask that only one customer (with children if necessary) at a time be in our office.
Municipal tennis courts also opened Monday, May 4, with signage reminding the public to comply with social distancing measures. Begg Dog Park is scheduled to re-open on May 9, allowing for annual spring turf maintenance to be completed. Signage will be added reminding the public to comply with social distancing measures. While other city parks are currently open, bathrooms and playground equipment will continue to remain closed.
We know you are anxious (and we are too!) to know specifics regarding our summer programs, particularly the day camp (see our Friday post for some preliminary information) and Woodland Water Park. We are diligently working on how we can adjust programs and open registrations, while meeting the Governor’s and Flathead County’s reopening phased approach guidelines and considerations.
We hope to be able to provide you with information as quickly as we know specifics. We miss you all and look forward to serving you. Thank you for your understanding and patience.
NEW ANNOUNCEMENT ON 3-31-20
The Kalispell Dog Park and Skate Park were closed as of 3-24-20. Thank you for your understanding as we implement measures to help protect the public from the COVID-19 pandemic.
NEW ANNOUNCEMENT ON 3-19-20
In an effort to do what is in the best interests of the community in light of recommendations from the Health Department regarding the COVID-19 health outbreak, the Kalispell Parks and Recreation Department has decided to close all city owned playgrounds to the public. This includes all the playgrounds listed on the attached city parks and amenities spreadsheet. Restrooms in the parks have not opened for the season and will remain closed for the foreseeable future. Gazebo rentals have also been suspended.
We would also like to remind the public to utilize social distancing measures if using parks and trails, giving others plenty of room as we all do our part to flatten the curve of COVID-19 spread. Your cooperation in this closure is greatly appreciated as we attempt to minimize the risks of the health emergency, we are all facing.
POST ON 3-16-20
Kalispell Parks and Recreation’s first priority is the health and safety of our community participants. With Governor Bullock’s implemented two week closure of public schools across Montana, following the growing threat and concern of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the Kalispell Parks and Recreation Department will be canceling our Afterschool Program and Spring Break Camp, effective immediately through March 27, 2020. Also our sports programs including Adult Soccer and Little Dribblers basketball will be suspended until further notice.
We are sorry for the inconvenience and welcome your calls to 758-7975 to answer your questions and assist you.
We will continue to provide updates through participant emails and Facebook as we acquire information.
