[ARCHIVED] City Council Meeting Modification

Logo

The City of Kalispell is committed to providing essential services to the public while also making it a top priority to protect the health and safety of our citizens. The City of Kalispell continues to follow the direction of the Flathead City-County Health Department, and the State of Montana in relation to the COVID-19 health outbreak.

In light of the recommendation from Governor Bullock to limit public gatherings, the City of Kalispell has chosen to modify the manner in which the City Council will conduct the regular City Council meeting scheduled for this evening (March 16) at 7 p.m. The resolutions to adjust utility rates and impact fees will be tentatively postponed until the meeting scheduled for April 6. The remainder of the agenda will continue with Council Members using a conferencing call system to participate. This will allow Council to handle items with sensitive timelines while postponing the two items that are anticipated to have significant public comment, thus limiting the size of the gathering. To help protect the public, the chairs will be arranged in the Council Chambers to enable anyone from the public who would like to attend to practice social distancing recommendations. The public is also encouraged to share their views with the City Council via email to citycouncil@kalispell.com.

The City of Kalispell has also chosen to cancel the work session normally scheduled for March 23, 2020. Other events such as Coffee with the Chief are being postponed to a date undetermined. The Kalispell Parks and Recreation Department are evaluating their programs and releasing information pertaining to cancellations.

As always, the City Council meeting will air live on Cable Channel 190, and will stream live at www.kalispell.com. The City of Kalispell would also like to remind customers that many city services are available online or by telephone. These services and relevant department phone numbers are located at www.kalispell.com

The City of Kalispell would like to ensure the public that the organization will be working closely with partners such as the Flathead City-County Health Department to mitigate the effects stemming from COVID-19. We urge all citizens to closely monitor the website of the Flathead City-County Health Department for emerging recommendations and information and to follow guidelines from the health experts for the health and safety of the community.
