[ARCHIVED] Providing Positive Interaction Between Police and Youth

CARE Camp - group photo

Flathead CARE is a non profit organization aimed at substance abuse prevention. From June 11-14, 80 Middle School students, and 20 High School Counselors attended CARE's Kids Camp, having fun and building relationships with the goal of empowerment by fostering a positive social environment where youth are motivated and encouraged to identify and develop their leadership traits. A combination of positive relationships and social interaction, coupled with education has the ability to reduce the likelihood of substance abuse among youth.

As a representative of the Kalispell Police Department, and the board chairman of Flathead CARE, Officer Jason Parce attends the annual week long camp to support the Director and Counselors and provide a positive interaction between police and youth.

Throughout the week, youth were engaged in leadership activities, and educated in prevention measures by professionals in our community that specialize in substance abuse prevention.
