According to the Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) the Kalispell Urban project will ramp up this week with concrete work on North Meridian Road from the intersection of U.S. Highway 2 to U.S. Highway 93. Workers will raise water valves and manholes to street level and set them in concrete throughout the week. Work will be completed at night, beginning as early as Monday, weather permitting.
Drivers should expect to encounter single lane closures with one lane of traffic flowing in each direction. The lane closures will be in effect during the day to allow the concrete to cure properly.
Workers could also begin milling and paving operations on 7th Street West from 5th Avenue West to the intersection of Foys Lake Road and South Meridian Road, weather allowing. Milling is the process of grinding off the top few inches of pavement before laying down fresh asphalt.
Residents along 7th Street West should expect some daytime construction noise, although crews will work to keep those impacts to a minimum.
Drivers are asked to use caution when traveling through work zones and to abide by all signs and directions from flaggers.
