After a public process and city council approval, several parking changes will be made on specific blocks in downtown Kalispell. These changes came about from a field review designed to exchange ideas and identify potential locations to improve parking within the Business Improvement District. An analysis was then conducted on proposed ideas and locations to determine feasibility and safety.
2-hour parking designations have been removed in the following areas:
- 5th Street West (2nd Avenue West to Main Street)
- 3rd Street East (2nd Avenue East to 3rd Avenue East)
- 3rd Street West (2nd Avenue West to 1st Avenue West)
- 1st Street West (2nd Avenue West to 1st Avenue West)
Installation of diagonal parking will also take place on 5th Street West between 1st Avenue West and Main Street, and 3rd Street East between 2nd Avenue East and 3rd Avenue East. The Kalispell Traffic Signs and Signals Division will be grinding out the current parallel parking lines and painting new angle parking spots in their place. These modifications to create the diagonal parking stalls will increase available parking within the BID by 10 additional parking spaces. Watch for a news flash when this process has been complete.
