Water is sold from fire hydrants for the purposes of cleaning parking lots and controlling dust, etc., during construction. A fire Hydrant Meter Rental Agreement Form must be completed by the Public Works Department prior to meter installation. A new form is to be completed for each hydrant meter connection. The Fire Hydrant Meter Rental Agreement is available at the Public Works Office. Requirements: Fire Hydrant Meter Rental Agreement Form. 24 Hours Notice for installation and disconnection by City Crew. Prior to the installation of the hydrant meter, a $820.00 deposit in the form of a certified check is required as security. The deposit will be returned to application after removal of the working hydrant meter and verification of its good condition by City meter maintenance personnel.
Public Works Water Division Personnel will install and remove the hydrant meter upon24 hours notice of request. If the temperature is below freezing, the fire hydrant shall be shut off and the meter opened and allowed to drain after each use. The Public Works Office will bill the applicant for water usage.
