The Kalispell Police Department offers many career enhancement opportunities to its officers. The department features assignments to drug investigation, school resource officer, community resource officer, bike patrol, special response team, crime scene investigation team and special traffic enforcement, in addition to the patrol and investigation assignments.

The department also officers a modern dispatch facility that provides for a good working environment and challenging career opportunities.

Police officer candidates must successfully complete the written tests conducted by the Montana Law Enforcement Academy (MLEA). If you have tested with another Montana agency with a certified MLEA proctor and successfully passed the written tests within the last year you will not be required to take the written test. Your scores must be confirmed with the Police Officer Standard and Training (P.O.S.T.) agency. If you are currently a sworn officer and have attended an accredited law enforcement academy you will not be required to take the written test. ALL applicants will be required to take the physical test.
