AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM COUNSELOR-SHORT TERM ONLY

GENERAL PURPOSE:

 

Assist the Recreation Supervisor and After School Assistant in organizing, coordinating, implementing, and supervising  after school activities for youth ages 5-13 yrs.  Provide quality customer service and maintain positive public relations.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

 

Works under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor and After School Assistant.

 

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

 

None

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Assist the recreation supervisor and After School Assistant in carrying out the functions of after school program.  In the absence of the recreation supervisor and After School Assistant assumes responsibility.

 

Assist in organizing and implementing, and monitoring daily activities such as games, special events, physical fitness, arts and crafts, team building, outdoor skills, etc.

 

Assists the recreation supervisor and After School Assistant in the maintenance of a variety of records and forms such as permission slips, incident forms, and attendance records, daily check-in and check-out of camp participants.

 

Perform a variety of miscellaneous duties such as answering and making phone calls, taking care of equipment, and cleaning.

 

Respond to public inquires or comments such as question and complaints.

 

Respond to and take care of circumstances requiring first aid.

Provides backup to related positions as needed and assigned.

TECHNICAL TASKS:

A.    Performs all job duties in compliance with the established rules and regulations of the City of Kalispell. 

B.     Demonstrates accountability and responsibility for completion of work assignments in the absence of a department supervisor; provides responsive and timely feedback to supervisory staff on status and progress of work activities.

C.     Promotes safe work practices and ensures compliance with City safety policies.

D.    Assists in the development of operating procedures, policies, rules and regulations.

E.     Attends meetings, seminars, training programs, conferences and other related events as required.

F.      Maintains individual knowledge and skills to be able to carry out all duties of position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education and Experience:

 (A) 1-3 year experience working with children ages 5-13yrs.

       

 

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

(A)  Must have the initiative to carry out work assignments without supervision and in a timely manner.

(B)  Must possess good verbal and written communication skills to deal positively and effectively with the public.

(C)  Must have the ability to remain calm, cool, and collected at all times.

(D)  Must be a team player.

(E)  Have a genuine concern for the well being and development of young children.

(F)  Must have the fortitude to abide by and enforce rules, policies and procedures.

(G) Must have the ability to follow lesson plan, and make adjustments whenever necessary.

(H) Must have the ability to accurately account for camp participants, guests, and staff with respect

(I)   Must have the ability and desire to treat all camp participants, guests and staff with respect

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

Have First Aid and CPR certification or the ability to obtain one upon hire.

Phone, various sports and recreation equipment, TV, VCR, portable music player, computer.

GENERAL PURPOSE:  

 

Performs semi-skilled, skilled, and administrative work in maintaining the vehicles and mechanical equipment of the City of Kalispell.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

 

Works under the supervision of the Central Garage Foreman.

 

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

 

None.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Plans, carries out and evaluates preventive maintenance schedules for all vehicles and mechanical equipment, either personally, or through outside vendors.

 

Operates a variety of diagnostic instruments and a variety of hand, electric, and air-driven tools.

 

Tests, services and repairs vehicles and mechanical equipment.

 

Inspects, adjusts and replaces necessary units and related parts in the performance of repair and maintenance work.

 

Repairs brake, engine, electrical, fuel, hydraulic, transmission, ignition, air, exhaust, axle assemblies and related systems.

 

Cuts and welds metal and performs body repair, touch up and related work.  Fabricates tools and parts as needed.

 

Changes and repairs tires and tubes.

 

Changes oil, filters and lubes vehicles as necessary.

 

Evaluates status of mechanical equipment and vehicles, and performs or schedules needed repairs.

 

Conducts various analyses and inspections of vehicles and mechanical systems to determine the most cost-effective means of maintenance, repair or replacement.

 

Helps to develop shop procedures and budget data for the maintenance and repair of vehicles and mechanical systems as requested by supervisor.

 

Purchases equipment, parts, and supplies used for vehicle and mechanical system maintenance by purchase order.

 

Provides emergency field assistance to disabled equipment as needed and appropriate.

 

Assists in the preparation of bid specifications for vehicles and mechanical equipment.

 

Assists in the preparation and administration of mechanical budgets in conformance with adopted policies and procedures.

 

Maintains records, prepares reports and other specialized maintenance records of equipment and mechanical equipment.
