All new commercial construction, including remodeling of existing buildings also requires review by the Architectural Review Committee. The typical plans to be submitted for review are site plans, landscaping, lighting, building elevations/colors/materials, and signage if applicable.
The committee is a group of seven community volunteers with a diverse background in architecture, business, art and design work who review the aesthetics of new construction and major remodeling projects, including certain types of signs. The review helps encourage originality, flexibility, and innovation in site and building design while conserving the city's natural beauty and visual character of surrounding neighborhoods.
Meetings of the committee are at 7:30 a.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays each month in the Upper Level Conference Room of the Kalispell City Hall located at 201 1st Avenue East. The application deadline is the Wednesday prior to each meeting.
